The Immortal Voices series gets new covers!

Warning, may cause emotional attachment, seeing the world differently, wondering what the animals know. The Immortal Voices 5 book series in new covers.

The new covers are here!

I’m so excited to finally reveal all 5 new covers, together, for the first time. PLUS… Secrets of Green & Gold has already been republished with this beautiful new cover and a heavily revised new inside too!

But first, the cover reveals … 😄

When I decided to relaunch this series, I knew it deserved new covers. The original covers were great, and they served the series well for several years. But as with all things, trends change. Those covers became dated and it was time for something fresh. Something that captured the magic, the forest, and the mystical creatures, all hidden within our ordinary world.

So here are the new designs. How did I do?

Now, about the newly revised and republished Secrets — What’s Changed?

What’s different about Secrets?

New covers weren’t the only thing. If you’ve read Secrets before, you might remember it taking a little while to get going. You weren’t imagining it. I always felt the pacing could have been better, and reviews over the years quietly confirmed it: a slow start, and a middle that dragged a bit.

It was my first book, and I’ve learned a lot since I wrote it. So I went back and fixed it!

The opening is faster. The first three chapters are now two. It still begins with Cara’s encounter with the owl in the park, but that now happens on her last day of school, and middle school graduation has shrunk to about two sentences. A few summer scenes moved around as a result, but the story is the same, just faster.

A tighter middle. I cut an entire chapter from Cara’s early days at Scovell Academy. Some scenes are gone, others are drastically tightened, and the whole thing carries more momentum.

Mystery-weaver. I wove more of the Pyx mystery through those school days, so that plot no longer takes a back seat for so long.

A sharper ending. The final two chapters got some attention too. They’re tighter, and some of the clues that lead into Book 2 hit a little harder now.

What didn’t change: the story, the characters, and Cara’s voice. If you’ve already read it, you don’t need to re-read it. But if any of those things bugged you the first time around, I hope this version fixes them.

And if you’ve been meaning to recommend the series to someone, now’s a great time. They’ll get the best version of the book I always wanted it to be.
