Kickstarter Update 1: The Edge Reveal & A Quest Into the Cursed Globe

As you probably already know, I’ll be running a Kickstarter campaign to create a gorgeous little collection of my short stories set in the worlds of The Cursed Globe. The Prelaunch page is up, and you can follow along for all the updates and reveals before the official launch date. In fact, there have been several reveals already, starting with the cover of course! After the cover reveal for In The Cursed Globe by Jo Holloway, the prelaunch started gathering momentum — and when we hit 25 followers on Kickstarter, it was time to unlock the first milestone reveal. ✨The edge design is officially OUT!✨ But the edge reveal was only the beginning.

This tiny book is really starting to feel like something that slipped out of a fantasy realm and quietly appeared on our bookshelves, just waiting for mysteries to be unlocked.

A Quest Into the Cursed Globe

Theres something else very exciting happening over on the Kickstarter page.

Since In the Cursed Globe is a collection of short fantasy stories all about choices, thresholds, and the moments where paths split, I thought it would be fitting to invite readers into one of those moments themselves.

So we’ve begun a Choose Your Own Adventure–style quest, and we’ve been building it together. If you’re not already playing along, what are you waiting for?

Here’s how it works:

  • Each update presents a short story moment

  • Readers vote on the choice presented at the end

  • The path with the most votes becomes canon for our journey

No lore knowledge required. No right answers. Just a willingness to step through a gate.

Trial One: The Three Gates

The first trial started our journey with a bang! If you missed it, here’s what happened:

Trial One: The Three Gates

We don’t remember how we got here. Our familiar world thinned around the edges, and we found ourselves standing in this clearing that feels like a pause between breaths. The ground is worn smooth by countless travelers who came before us, and the air hums with anticipation. Hairs rise at the back of our necks.

“Where are we?” you ask.

The clearing answers with magic as ancient as the world itself. Three gates appear, faint light spilling from their thresholds, coloring each one a different shade.

A figure stands beside them, cloaked and silent. A Gate Keeper.

He doesn’t greet us. He simply watches, hands folded, eyes sharp with the kind of patience that says this moment has played out before, yet each choice is as important as the last.

A choice we now have to make… Three gates, and the Keeper will only take us through one. Once chosen, the others will close.

🟢 The Green Gate
Beyond it: a mist-shrouded forest, where paths twist into foggy tendrils, hiding unknown magic and danger.

🔴 The Red Gate
Beyond it: a frozen wilderness with sharp air and endless snow, where the distant cry of a falcon beckons you even as it sends a shiver down your spine.

🟣 The Purple Gate
Beyond it: blue mountains under a vast sky, where treacherous paths wind ever upward and secrets are carried on the wind.

The verdict? By popular vote, we entered through the Green Gate. Where did it lead?
